“Social Skills” are not scripted, socially appropriate behaviors

“Social Skills” are not a set of scripted, socially appropriate behaviors, however, that is how they are typically taught in social skills group.
Social skills start with social attention, a concept that is abstract to many individuals with #ADHD,#Aspergers, and higher-verbal #autism.
I use this graphic in my groups to teach where we should be in terms of thinking about others and our awareness of other’s thinking about us (perspective taking).
